I'm almost positive that nobody'll be able to help out, but I figure it's worth a shot.

The only Art programs I have are CorelDRAW7 and Corel PHOTO-PAINT7.  They're prectically ancient, and the only thing I can really use because I have an 8 year old computer.  Anyways, I don't have the manuals for either program, so I was wonder if anybody out there knew how to work either, or both, of them.  Either a Userbar tutorial or a general tutorial would be much appreciated.

Ive used a bit corelDraw 4-5 years ago but if i load it up now i wont know how to draw a line. About Photo-Paint i didnt know it existed lol. Using a vector app like CorelDraw or even a much powerful package like Illustrator, for userbar design would be a real pain, cos uve got extremely minimal photo manipulation options. Photo-Paint may be a choice but ive not heard a lot about it so im guessing it must be crap. A great choice would be photoshop but its price is not that great Smiley. So i suggest using Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/windows/) which is a great proffesional app which will satisfy every your need, and above all its free. U can find lots of tutorials if u search a bit, but if for some reason u cant find, tell me and ill do some search for u.

From the website:
--------
Requirements
The GIMP should run on Windows 98/ME/NT4/2000/XP. It is recommended to use an NT-based version of Windows (NT4, 2000 or XP). Starting with GIMP 2.2 and GTK+ 2.4, older versions such as Windows 95 are not supported anymore. The amount of memory can be an important factor, especially if you intend to work on large images. A minimum of 128 MB of RAM is recommended, but the more RAM the better.
--------

I have Windows 98 and, if memory serves, only 64 MB of RAM, much less than  what the site says.  Then again, I'm not sure if that's true because I'm at school right now.  But, worst-case scenario, would it be OK to download with only 64 RAM?  Would it run correctly?

if it runs on win 98 then it should be ok. Im not sure about the ram,  cos im on 512 (it sucks for the parameters of my pc but im going to upgrade soon Tongue ) and when i have something like two apps runing, illustrator cs crashes. Surely ram is important but u can try and if it loads up, guess it will work ok if ull work with small documents like userbars. Trying will give u the answer.

EDIT:  How can I get the fonts to work?  I Downloaded the Visitor Font and Installed it, but it won't show up in GIMP.

im not a gimp user so i cant tell so much. I just download it and it loaded fine the Visitor font. Have u copied it under c:\windows\fonts or shortly control panel >> fonts ? It takes the font list from there and normally u shouldnt have problems.

I got it!!  I needed to put the font file into a certain folder that got downloaded when I downloaded GIMP.  I guess GIMP has their own font folder.

I did it, and it worked!!

^_^ Thank you for all your help, GuiltyGear! ^_^
