I suggest CS2 (suite and all), but that can be expensive. Very, very, very expensive.

Of course, you can also buy Elements, but then you can't do animations, and don't have all the same filters and abilities. I find elements to be a bit taxing. Why don't you download the trial off of the Adobe site and try it out for 30 days. No watermark or anything. You may like it.

If you run into any issues with the trail, send me a message on aim. My Buddy Name is Tarenteor. I can also direct you to some places to find the software for cheaper than MSRP (student websites, etc.)

it is ofcourse a pain to make animations in the gimp... i tried ALOT of tutorials... and yet, i cant do it. there image ready beats everything (also adobe)

For animations I use Ulead GIF animator... it's the best

I personally like Photoshop CS for userbars. Though I haven't tried in PSP X, though I have both. I just started using Photoshop CS for this, and am thoroughly liking it (had previously used PSP for everything, and I started with PSP 7).
