Hi I'm new at making userbars and I am using Photoshop CS2. I have encountered a small problem. My userbars seem normal until I come to save them, as soon as they are saved they become blurry. I do not have one currently hosted but I will post one here as an example as soon as I can. In the meantime, does anyone know how I can improve the quality or get rid of the 'bluriness' which appears when I save?

Thank you!

P.S. I'm using 'another great tutorial' as a model

As you can see the text is slightly hard to read and the image is blurry. Everything was perfectly clear as I was creating it.

When you save the bar as jpeg, use a higher image-quality. Put it up to 8, 10 or even 12 (as I do). So, the bar will be a little bigger (in HD-Space Wink ) but also not so blurry.

I'm using Photoshop 7.0...been finding it quite difficult to do this background pattern thing.

I tried following the suggestion provided in the tutorial but it turns out differently.

When using pixelfonts, make sure antialiasing is off (the "aa" icon on the top), this only makes the text more unreadable at such small sizes.

Saving as a normal jpg, even with low quality will result in big files. I use Save for Web with quality 60 or 80, so ull end up with a 4kb userbar with nice quality. U can try to increase letter spacing for the text, so antialiasing wont be seen around edges, once uve saved.

johnny_drama. Did u use the pencil tool, cos using a 1px normal brush will give u a not clear pattern.

Yes I did...even zoomed in the pattern document as instructed and drew a single line...however, it does not turn up on my userbar when I fill with the pattern.

At least not as what the tutorial shows me...the lines all gather at the middle of the bar and look rather teeny.

Thats really strange man. Ok review:

- U created a 6x6px (or whatever) document.
- Drew a 1px diagonal line with the pencil tool
- U ended up with smth like this
- Then filled the layer using Edit Menu>>Fill (Shift+F5) or Pattern Overlay (Blending Options)

Post in here a screenshot to see the real problem.

PS: Image taken from the userbar tutorial in this site.

Please use 3x3px document and a 1p line to me it makes it look so better.
