Things I don't know...

Ok, I have photoshop 5 which as you might guess is a rather old version, I would buy a new version but this is my work PC and its currently all I have, *long stroy home PC blew up*

I take up my time at work with photoshop and art etc... but I am rather new to userbars and they seem like good fun

some I am gonig to list a few things I don't get and if anyone can answer them, I'd be very grateful...

1) Borders, I have searched on this forum how to add a border and either to photoshop not doing it or me being stupid, could someone explain how to do this?

2) Patterns, I would like to add thin strips accros my user bar, like most have, Can someone familar with photoshop 5 explain how to do this OR  suggest a substitute, I was thinking on the lines of coping/pasting the lines as an image... would this work?

3) Finally, Lighting effects, how do I get that white Haze light at the top of my userbar? Could someone explain OR again, suggest something else?

Plz keep in mind that I don't have the latest edition of PS or paintshoppro... any help is welcome

Im not familiar with Photoshop 5 myself, I use Photoshop Elements.

But a quick google search found this link.

Goto MOVING, ADJUSTING, AND MODIFYING SELECTION AREAS and it tells you how to add a border, it will probably have lots of other interesting stuff on there, maybe adding scan-lines and lighting (not sure)
